L'action de l'homme n'a pas toujours été sans conséquence. Aussi bien la colonisation, l'injustice, la violence sous toutes ses formes, la mauvaise gestion des ressources rares, que le désir d'hégémonie des grandes puissances, tous ces maux énumérés, ont entraîné un déséquilibre des mondes et de l'écosystème dont le point d’achoppement reste sans conteste le changement climatique.

Notre proposition milite donc en faveur d'une prise de conscience des risques encourus par l'humanité toute entière. Le musée en tant qu'institution de médiation au service de la société, ayant une fonction d'éducation, pourrait engager une action systémique et transformatrice dans tous les domaines de la vie sociale, politique, économique et culturelle des peuples. Les actions retenues sont entre autres, une redéfinition du concept même du musée par l'ONU, la restitution des biens culturels à leurs pays d'origine et l'intégration du module "Musée et action climatique" dans l'enseignement et la formation pédagogique par l'UNESCO. Un exemple d'outil contraignant tel que "La Résolution 2021 sur Reimagining museums for climate action", de même que l'engagement de tous autour de ce concept, sont autant de solutions qui pourraient constituer des gages de réussite.

Contribution of the museum to the climate change question

Human action has not always been without consequence. Colonization, injustice, violence in all its forms, mismanagement of scarce resources, as well as the desire for hegemony of the great powers, all of these evils have led to an imbalance of worlds and of the ecosystem. The sticking point is undoubtedly climate change.

Our proposal therefore militates in favor of an awareness of the risks incurred by all of humanity. The museum as a mediating institution in the service of society, with an educational function, could initiate a systemic and transformative action in all areas of the social, political, economic and cultural life of peoples. The actions selected are, among others, a redefinition of the very concept of the museum by the UN, the return of cultural goods to their countries of origin and the integration of the "Museum and climate action" module in teaching and pedagogical training by UNESCO. An example of a binding tool such as "Resolution 2021 on Reimagining museums for climate action", as well as everyone's commitment to this concept, are all solutions that could constitute a guarantee of success.
